Roxy Portrait and Flur Family PortraiT

Peter Flur commissioned two pieces for an anniversary gift. The first was a portrait of Roxy, their African Grey Parrot. This portrait was done in graphite and pastel on a grey Canford Card Stock. The second portrait was completed at the same time and is a group portrait to celebrate a charity event the Flur Family attended. This group portrait was completed in graphite and watercolor on Fabriano watercolor paper. Both of these portrait pieces were challenging and I worked closely with Peter to ensure his initial vision of the project was a success.

"Greg has done three different commissions for me - and each has meant so much. He first did a portrait of my daughter on stage from one of the first MainStage musicals she performed - he was able to capture the light and life in her eyes that we’ve watched grow over the years. More recently, he did two graphite drawings as a surprise 30th anniversary gift for my wife. One was a special portrait of our parrot - he captured amazing detail in her feathers and that gleam in her eye. The third and most spectacular of them all was a graphite drawing of my family at a charity event - with masks and all. All three have become lasting memories in our collection."

Prudence Pet Portrait

This pet portrait was a lot of fun and was a quick turn for a repeat client as a gift for a friend. Prudence, the Bernese Mountain Dog pet portrait is 6x8 watercolor on Stillman & Birn watercolor paper.

“As the owner of Prudence, I can’t begin to tell you how perfectly you captured her. Thanks for the portrait we’ll treasure for many years to come.”

Madark and Wojo Pet Portraits

Madark and Wojo are two of my favorite portraits created for such good people. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to meet Madark (German Shepherd) before he passed away but I did get to spend some time with Wojo. Being a GSD person I donated the Madark portrait to the Millers because I was so heart broken for them when he passed away. They came back to me and commissioned the portrait of Wojo. Her portrait was equally gratifying to create.

When my dog passed away, it was one of the worst days of my life.  I was heart-broken.  The suddenness made it even worse.  Greg and his lovely wife reached out to provide support and compassion during the tough time.  A few weeks later, Greg reached out to see if I had any pictures of my boy since he never had the opportunity to meet him.  We sent them to Greg, and a few weeks later, he came over with a beautiful drawing of my boy.  It captured his floppy ear and eyes.  Not only was the drawing a thing of beauty, the kindness he showed to help us remember him was even more beautiful.

It was about a year and half later that my wife reach out to Greg to ask him to do another drawing for us, this time of my lab who had become sick.  Again, Greg did a fantastic job of capturing her eyes, smile and markings.  Not only is he a great artist but he’s a better person and friend.  I can’t tell you how much his drawings have meant to us as we look at them every day.
