I have never created a portrait of either of my parents but I felt I had to create this one. I needed to spend the time reflecting my Fathers life, my childhood as a military brat and our relationship. Most importantly, to honor him in my own way, free from expectation.

A person dies twice. The second time when their name is spoken for the last time.

Shiloh was our Golden Retriever. He passed away in September of 2018 at the age of 13. This was a study sketch for a future painting that I did in his honor. It sits on my book shelf in the studio.

“I’ve Got Your Back” is a commemorative graphite drawing of the Veterans who cycled the Blood Sweat and Gears 100 miler in Boone, NC. This was commissioned and hangs in the home of the ride director.

Roxy was one of two commissioned pieces for an anniversary gift. The first was a portrait of Roxy, the clients African Grey Parrot. This portrait was done in graphite and pastel on grey Canford Card Stock.

Madark is one of two of my favorite portraits created for such good people. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to meet Madark (German Shepherd) before he passed away. Being a GSD person I donated the Madark portrait to the Millers because I was so heart broken for them when he passed away. They came back to me and commissioned the portrait of Wojo. Her portrait was equally gratifying to create.

This pet portrait was a lot of fun and was a quick turn for a repeat client as a gift for one of their friends. Prudence, the Bernese Mountain Dog pet portrait is 6x8 watercolor on Stillman & Birn watercolor paper.

Brie was a watercolor painting I did a few years ago commissioned by friends of the owner when she passed away. Brie was painted on Stillman & Birn watercolor paper.

An older piece but a favorite. Abby was a commission from 2011. Graphite on Bristol paper.

Yawn was painted as a commission for Corel Corporation around the year 2012 or 2013.

Paltman is a commissioned double portrait. The client provided an antique photograph which was used as reference for this piece. Graphite and charcoal on Canford toned paper.
